Mischa Temaul
The Storyteller
Mischa Temaul is a Guyanese author whose dream is to become the modern-day Jane Austen. She often jokes its wishful thinking, but she does hope the stories she writes will be a favourite of readers. Born in Georgetown, Guyana (formerly known as British Guiana), she always wanted to be a veterinarian when she was little. However, paths changed and it led her to writing. She graduated from the University of South Florida with honours majoring in Creative Writing.
With a flair for storytelling, she enjoys writing both Young Adult and New Adult contemporary stories with a multicultural aspect. Though, she gears toward writing New Adult contemporary stories since it fills the literary gap of that 20’s coming of age vibe where a character is figuring out herself in the chaotic world of adulthood. She’s primarily focused on writing stories about Guyanese Indian young women.
Apart from writing stories, she is the founder and editor-in-chief of Global FashionFlare magazine. She was a fond subscriber of a popular teen magazine during her high school days but became weary of seeing the same models being featured on the cover and contacted them. Hoping her message would bring to light the need for diversity, she was met with disappointment having gotten her next issue to find a model featured for the seventh time. After the lack of diversity on the covers of that magazine, she created her own magazine aiming to celebrate diversity and beauty in all shapes and sizes. Global FashionFlare magazine has successfully published six issues. The magazine is currently on hiatus since she wants to focus more on her manuscript(s).
While she may not have any notable publication or writing awards like many authors, two of her articles have been published in a local community magazine.
When she isn’t writing, she enjoys cooking—makes the BEST vegan lasagna—yummy meals for her family, spending time with her pets, modeling—she has been featured on a billboard for Straz Center, and spending time with God and studying His Word.

Her biggest aspiration is to become a best-selling author.

She's currently working on her next YA contemporary novel: WICKED GAME.
