Storyboard: A Starry Night in Paris

Happy (late) New Year! I know it's been a while since my last blog post but been juggling with a few things. I had this blog post with the storyboard for A Starry Night in Paris saved since last month. However, after reading over what I had written, I decided to re-write a new entry.

Why? Mainly because of the French actor, Gaspard Ulliel (photo of him on the left.) I'm still in disbelief regarding his death. I first discovered him after watching the movie Hannibal Rising--actually, it was his only movie I ever saw but was completely smitten by him. I think everyone that saw Hannibal Rising was smitten by him. He was one of my celebrity crushes back in the day. Also, he's definitely the reason I decided to write a story set in Paris (note: though I always tend to write stories about places I've never been! Example: Mumbai and Seoul. And it always takes me 40 days and 40 nights having to research places and being able to describe them perfectly.)

Originally, the title was "Summer in Paris" and I began writing this story in 2009. To be quite honest, it wasn't a story I really fancied---I just did not like it at all. Okay, I absolutely love the main character Naina and the way she looked at the world through her lenses (photographer.) Also, Naina and Logan. Those two *insert heart emoji* So cute. But other than that, it wasn't a story I really cared for---it was just too sad and heartbreaking and maybe boring.

Interestingly enough, I decided to use this story as my thesis for the English Honours Program I was in (since the story had 40+ chapters written already.) After the feedback from my mentor, Dr. Karen Brown, on each chapter I submitted (not all 40 chapters! I think she read up to chapter 7 because I had met my requirements), I slowly started to fall in love with this story.

It's definitely a story I would love to finish one day and hopefully get published. It would probably be my first New Adult story to be published. Writing YA is cool (I believe YA is really NA since that's when characters are venturing into adulthood), but I believe representation matters for characters that are, for example, moving to a new country for a job, facing a breakup, learning to be an adult, etc.

Hope the storyboard tickles your guy's interest!

Stay safe & God Bless.

Kindest Regards,

Mischa
