Hello!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and Boxing day despite the current events happening in the world. I really enjoyed being at home with my pets and my family. It's absolute bliss for me--then again, I'm a homebody. Jane Austen said: "There is nothing like staying at home, for real comfort." (Not counting God's Word that is because the Bible is the ultimate comfort with its promises for someone to rely on.)
If you've read the 'about' page on my website, you'll know I was born in Guyana. Almost many or most people often think 'Ghana' when I say Guyana. Not the same. However, the mention of 'Jim Jones' is what usually turns on the lightbulb for people.
Guyana is located in South America--the only English ruled country (formerly British Guiana). We're also part of the West Indies (or Caribbean region.)
I took a non-fiction course during uni as part of my elective. Thinking back, I'm not sure what prompted me to write this story, but 'Home' was the piece I wrote. It's a special story close to my heart, and I'm very proud of it. After writing this piece, I submitted it (along with the poem) to a few literary magazines, but unfortunately, it didn't get the recognization I was hoping for.
I decided to post it on WattPad because I wanted to share it with others. It's a homage to my country, my home. Guyana.
I truly would appreciate it if you lot could take a few minutes to read it.
